RBC GAM-UK employs fundamental analysis and quantitative analysis. Individual portfolio managers may emphasize one method of security analysis over another in providing investment management services to discretionary clients and recommendations to nondiscretionary clients. The firm’s investment teams are responsible for researching investment opportunities, and implementing their findings and views on specific issuers in the management of clients’ portfolios. RBC GAM-UK employs various investment strategies through our investment mandates that are based on the objectives and strategies of the clients involved. Client portfolios with similar investment mandates, strategies and guidelines are generally managed similarly. Their investment management teams continuously research available investment opportunities using fundamental and quantitative methods, including environmental, social and governance (ESG) factors. The portfolio managers consider the investment opportunities available and make an active investment decision focusing on each client account’s needs, as reflected in each account’s governing documents.

SEG offers a long-only equity management program that utilizes fundamental analysis to select stocks they believe will provide better than market returns over a complete market cycle. Money market reserves may comprise 0 to 50 percent of the account, but generally range from 0 to 20 percent, depending on market conditions. SEG generally limits their portfolio of securities to less than 40 than stocks in each account. SEG employs eight primary investment strategies. Their investment strategies are generally driven by a research-intensive, fundamental bottom-up process and draw upon a centralized research department. These strategies include: Small-Mid Cap /Long-Only, US Core, Concentrated Opportunistic, US Long/Short, International Long/Short, International Long-Only, Global Long-Only, and Private Equity. SEG obtains exposure to particular issuers or securities for their private funds (and may for individual clients) through various types of derivatives transactions, including swaps and contracts for differences. In addition, they may hedge exposure to currency fluctuations for foreign securities owned by the private funds by entering into currency forward or option transactions.

Harding Loevner invests primarily in publicly-traded global equities which seeks superior returns. Their investment philosophy emphasizes long-term investments in high quality, growing businesses, and their investment approach relies on in-depth fundamental research including analysis of the competitive structure of global industries and the competitive position of individual companies. The firm undertakes in-depth fundamental company research and industry analysis to identify and value companies that exhibit four key quality-growth criteria: competitive advantage, quality management, financial strength, and sustainable growth. Portfolio managers construct each model portfolio informed by analysts’ recommendations and impact on portfolio risk. Harding Loevner builds model portfolios from the bottom-up, so the sector and country allocations in their strategies are primarily the result of individual stock selection, and not a top-down country or sector allocation process.
