The firm invests in companies located in North America, Europe, China and India. Two-thirds of their investments are in companies located outside of the San Francisco Bay Area. Sierra Ventures invests across all stages of the lifecycle from seed to growth. Initial investments typically range from $2 million to $25 million, with as much as $3 million to $35 million invested over the life of a company. Sierra Ventures also makes select seed-stage investments of $500,000 to $2 million.

Enterprise Partners focuses investments in early-stage life sciences, networks, semiconductors and computing and software and information technology services companies where the fundamental technology exists and is ready to move to market. They concentrate on opportunities in California and the West Coast
