East Carolina University’s Brody School of Medicine is one of its more impressive divisions. Among medical schools emphasizing primary care Brody ranked sixth by U.S. News and World Report. It also ranked ninth for rural medicine. Also intensely involved in research, Brody is renowned for its innovative work in robotic surgery. Brody’s research is also continually expanding as they are also partnered with several growing research and clinical care facilities. Brody’s education department is also one of its more respected. Graduates of ECU’s College of Education have been named Teachers of the Year at the state and national levels. Another of its notable departments is the College of Fine Arts and Communications. Training individuals in the visual and performing arts, this division is one of the more well-known on the East Coast and hosts numerous performances, exhibits and arts programs. Additional offerings at ECU include adult learning options, a language academy and distance learning. Student services meet a range of needs and include a career center, a writing center, study abroad programs, student government, disability support, counseling, student legal services, a student health center, on-campus housing, financial aid for eligible students, and many others.
