Company Description

What Is Costco? We are a membership warehouse club, dedicated to bringing our members the best possible prices on quality brand-name merchandise. With hundreds of locations worldwide, Costco provides a wide selection of merchandise, plus the convenience of specialty departments and exclusive member services, all designed to make your shopping experience a pleasurable one. The History of Costco The company's first location, opened in 1976 under the Price Club name, was in a converted airplane hangar on Morena Boulevard in San Diego. Originally serving only small businesses, the company found it could achieve far greater buying clout by also serving a selected audience of non-business members. With that change, the growth of the warehouse club industry was off and running. In 1983, the first Costco warehouse location was opened in Seattle. Costco became the first company ever to grow from zero to $3 billion in sales in less than six years. When Costco and Price Club merged in 1993, the combined company, operating under the name PriceCostco, had 206 locations generating $16 billion in annual sales. Our operating philosophy has been simple. Keep costs down and pass the savings on to our members. Our large membership base and tremendous buying power, combined with our never-ending quest for efficiency, result in the best possible prices for our members. Since resuming the Costco name in 1997, the company has grown worldwide with total sales in recent fiscal years exceeding $64 billion

AB's investment analysts create proprietary research to support our portfolio managers, who also can conduct their own research. Their portfolio management professionals then implement our discretionary investment strategies. The firm's professionals employ a range of investment strategies to implement the advice they give to clients including: long-term purchases, short-term purchases, trading, short sales, margin transactions, option strategies including writing covered options, uncovered options and spread strategies, and taking advantage of price differentials between two or more securities (arbitrage). Quantitative analytics are utilized in some of AB's investment activities, to assist in the selection of securities or the management of investment risk. It is often necessary for them to acquire or dispose of the same securities for more than one client account at the same time. In conducting security analysis, they utilize a broad spectrum of information, including without limitation financial publications, third-party research materials, annual reports, prospectuses, regulatory filings, company press releases, corporate rating services, inspections of corporate activities and meetings with management of various companies.

For the ICM Index-Based ETFs and Self-Indexed ETFs, ICM attempts to replicate, before fees and expenses, the price and yield of an Underlying Index. For many of the Index-Based ETFs, they employ a \"full replication\" methodology, meaning that the Index-Based ETF generally invests in all of the securities comprising its Underlying Index in proportion to the weightings of the securities in the Underlying Index. Due to the practical difficulties and expense of purchasing all of the securities in certain Index-Based ETF's Underlying Indexes, ICM utilizes a sampling methodology as the primary approach for seeking to track such Index-Based ETF's Underlying Index. A sampling methodology is also the primary approach utilized by the firm for the Self-Indexed ETFs. For the Actively Managed ETFs, they do not seek to fully replicate an Underlying Index but may use a quantitative-rules based investment strategy designed to provide returns that correspond to the performance of an index. Methods of security analysis employed may include proprietary stock screening, charting, fundamental analysis, technical analysis, and credit analysis.

Jennison Associates has expertise in a range of equity strategies across styles and market-caps, as well as fixed income strategies. The firm manages portfolios based on internal fundamental research, bottom-up security selection and a highly interactive investment process. Jennison Associates specializes in fundamental analysis, which involves attempting to gain insight into the future value of a company by studying company-specific and market-related quantitative (such as financial statements) and qualitative (such as quality of company management or products) information. Although portfolio managers ultimately make investment decisions for the portfolios they manage, they work closely with research analysts and other portfolio managers in a dynamic and continuous process of updating and debating investment ideas and company-specific convictions. They use quantitative tools to create and manage some of their customized equity portfolios and their quantitatively hedged portfolios.
