California State University Bakersfield is the city’s main source of undergraduate and graduate-level academics. Cal State Bakersfield is one of more than 20 campuses in the well-established Cal State system, all of which offer quality instruction and many college life activities. Cal State Bakersfield houses four distinctive undergraduate colleges: * Arts and Humanities * Business and Public Administration * Natural Sciences, Math and Engineering * Social Sciences Cal State Bakersfield also has a comprehensive graduate school, which offers various professional master’s degrees, including: * Anthropology * Education * Psychology * Administration * Counseling Psychology College life activities include academic lectures, on-campus entertainment, student clubs and organizations, performing arts activities and career fairs. Other on-campus opportunities include scholarship programs for minorities and grants for faculty-student research projects. Other types of financial aid include state and federal grants, loans, work-study and academic scholarships. Cal State Bakersfield also offers a tuition waiver and reduction program to eligible students. Admissions requirements are different for each program. Materials required for most undergraduate programs include transcripts or GED scores and ACT or SAT scores. Freshmen applicants must have a minimum high school GPA of 3.61 or an eligibility index of at least 3502 on the SAT or 842 on the ACT.
