The apartment complex has stood longer than its fabled ancestor. On the wall near the Bedford Avenue entrance to the 1,318 units that rise 20 beige-brick stories is a concrete marker dated 1962 that reads, ''This Is the Former Site of Ebbets Field.''
People have lived there for more than half a century, longer than the 44 years the Brooklyn Dodgers played there before Walter O'Malley, their restless owner, rode a one-way ticket to Los Angeles.
