Write-in candidate for Denmark Township board wins with 22 votes

No one filed to run for Seat 2 on the Denmark Town Board in the Nov. 6 election, but 22 voters thought the job should go to Shawn Racine.

Racine received the most of the 153 write-in votes cast; others received "just one or two votes," said Township Clerk Becky Herman. Racine was officially declared the winner Wednesday night during a meeting of the township's canvass board, she said.

Racine owns Superior Landscape and Irrigation in South St. Paul. He also is a partner in Safe Water...
