Williamson seeks 10-year limit on prosecution of troops

Mar 04, 2019 - The Daily Telegraph (London)

VETERANS will be protected from prosecution over historic allegations under plans to introduce a 10-year limit on new cases.

Gavin Williamson, the Defence Secretary, is preparing to announce new legislation amid growing pressure on ministers to address the legacy of the Troubles in Northern Ireland.

The Daily Telegraph disclosed at the weekend that four Army veterans are expected to be charged with murder over the deaths of the Bloody Sunday protesters almost 50 years ago.
