Will the D.C. Council finally see what's right in front of its face?; The Jack Evans saga has dragged on despite its urgency.
The D.C. Council's myopic handling of embattled member Jack Evans (D-Ward 2) could be dismissed as an exercise in klutziness were the situation not so serious. Lawmakers seem too shortsighted to see the urgent need to resolve the problem that the council's longest-serving member presents.
Evans has been fined $20,000 by the District's Board of Ethics and Government Accountability over his use of government resources and the prestige of his office for personal gain.
