Web giants face legal duty of care for children

TECHNOLOGY giants should face a statutory duty of care to protect children from online harms in the "lawless Wild West" of the web, say MPs in a major endorsement of The Daily Telegraph's campaign.

The Commons science and technology committee said social media "amplified" and "helped to facilitate" online sexual abuse, bullying, children's worries about their body image, lost sleep, self-harm and "sexting".
