Akron — The number of students who say they plan to attend the University of Akron this fall has dropped by a third, following a year of turmoil over issues including layoffs, rebranding and President Scott Scarborough’s leadership.

The faculty took an overwhelming vote of no confidence in Scarborough this year, and protesters upset at his actions gather outside the board room at every trustee meeting.
