Time has run out for the Tokyo-based Sunwolves to join a Super Rugby competition that has been revamped because of the coronavirus pandemic.
Rugby Australia issued a statement on Monday, saying travel restrictions and border closures meant the Sunwolves would not have enough time to prepare for the 3 July kick-off.
