This Tudor-style house had to be in Herndon, Va.; Former mayor Tom Rust knew what he wanted to build and where he wanted to build it.
In 1976, Tom Rust knew that the only place in Virginia he would consider building a house was the town he had called home most of his life.
"Even though I wasn't born in Herndon, I consider myself a native of Herndon," Rust said. "I wanted to stay in Herndon, and the land became available."
Rust, who was mayor of Herndon for almost 20 years and served for 13 years in the Virginia House of Delegates until retiring in 2015, found the ideal spot to build his house.
