OXFORD University now offers two state school pupils a place for every privately educated student, the latest admission figures show.
This year, 69 per cent of offers went to state school pupils while just 31 per cent went to their privately educated peers. This is the highest proportion of state school offers in the university's 900-year history, and the first time it has been more than double that of private schools.
