When Michael Hoffman awoke in the intensive care unit, all he could move were his eyes.
It was mid-April, and Michael was finally breathing on his own, without a ventilator, after spending 30 days in a medically induced coma. He had beaten one of the worst early cases of COVID-19 in Dallas, but his body remained connected to a feeding tube, an oxygen mask and several IVs.
Michael had survived, but the hard work of recovery was just beginning.
