Sigi Schmid, Record-Setting Soccer Coach, Is Dead at 65
Sigi Schmid, the winningest coach in Major League Soccer history, died on Dec. 25 in Los Angeles. He was 65.
His death, at Ronald Reagan U.C.L.A. Medical Center, came as he was awaiting a heart transplant. He had been hospitalized three weeks earlier.
