Scotland passporting haven would hinge on clean EU transition

A newly independent Scotland could become a go-to destination for passporting into the EU but only if it secures uninterrupted membership of the bloc and quickly resolves questions around its currency and financial regulation.

Scotland's first minister, Nicola Sturgeon, on March 13 called for a second independence referendum in autumn 2018 or spring 2019, before the conclusion of the U.K.'s negotiations to leave the EU.
