Dante Hutchinson, 13, has severe anxiety and always struggled with the social dynamics of traditional schools.

His mother moved him to a charter school in his hometown of Rhinelander in 2015, but it closed two years later. With no other local alternatives, Brooke Hutchinson enrolled her son in Wisconsin Virtual Academy, the state's largest virtual charter school, located 200 miles south in the McFarland School District.
