New Scottish currency 'fantasy economics'

THE SNP's plans for a new Scottish currency were dismissed as "fantasy economics" yesterday, after Derek Mackay suggested Scotland's £13billion deficit could be brought under control within a few years of independence.

The finance minister said the forecast GDP deficit of around 6 per cent could be cut faster than suggested in the party's own economic blueprint for a separate Scotland.
