New book recalls how Bill Campbell kept Eric Schmidt from quitting Google before its IPO

A little over a year after stepping down as executive chairman of Alphabet Inc., Eric Schmidt has co-written a book about a man who he credits with keeping him from resigning from Google Inc. just before its January 2004 IPO.

Bill Campbell, who died in 2016 at age 75, was so important to the success of Google, Apple, Amazon.com and other companies that Schmidt says the title of his new book, "Trillion Dollar Coach," probably underestimates his impact.
