Mich. grad rate close to previous year's: About 80%

Nearly 80% of the students in the Class of 2016 graduated on time in Michigan, a rate that hasn't changed much from the previous year.

The Michigan Center for Educational Performance and Information (CEPI) released on Wednesday the latest graduation rate and dropout rate data for public schools in the state.

The graduation rate was 79.65% for the 2015-16 school year, down slightly from 79.79% for the previous year.

The dropout rate was 8.91%, down from 9.12%.
