Lynas may have to bring waste home

Rare earths producer Lynas must secure a new agreement with the Malaysian government before September next year or be forced to transport 400,000 tonnes of radioactive waste back to Australia.

Lynas was left reeling by a shock announcement by the Malaysian energy and environment ministry on Tuesday that waste removal would be a pre-condition for any future licence to operate.
