Kinder Morgan buys Hiland Partners for $3B

Kinder Morgan Inc.(KMI) said late Wednesday it agreed to buy Hiland Partners from billionaire Harold Hamm and his family trusts for $3 billion, including debt, giving the midstream oil and gas giant valuable infrastructure assets in North Dakota's and Montana's Bakken Shale.

Hamm has been going through nasty divorce proceedings - his ex-wife is appealing for more than the $1 billion a judge awarded her - and was thought to be considering selling assets as part of a settlement.
