ANTONIO SIMOES, UK chief executive at HSBC - and one of its fastest promoted bankers - has been placed in charge of European operations, made chief executive of HSBC Bank plc and offered a place on the group executive board.
His array of new titles, with a place at the centre of HSBC's high command, will come into effect next month when he replaces Alan Keir, who has worked for the bank for the last 34 years and intends to retire on 31 March next year.
