Steve Gerrie wears a well-trimmed mustache, works as an accountant in a Wall Street brokerage and lives with his lover in a neat but threadbare apartment in the West Village here. His roommate, Jack Waluska, is a former welfare case worker now studying for a master’s degree in sociology.
