'Hippy crack' less harmful than alcohol, claims expert
"HIPPY crack" is less dangerous than alcohol and "hysteria" led to the government ban, a former drugs adviser to the Home Office has said.
Prof David Nutt said the illegal substance nitrous oxide - also known as "laughing gas" - was far less toxic or addictive than wine or beer.
And he said that healthy consumption of alcohol amounted to sharing one glass of wine between three.
