High court stays out of dispute over foie gras

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. - The U.S. Supreme Court has declined to get involved in a legal dispute in which 15 states are seeking to strike down laws in California and Massachusetts involving some farm animals.

A 2004 California law banned foie gras, a liver delicacy made by force-feeding ducks and geese. Farmers in Canada and New York and a restaurant challenged part of the law that banned liver produced out of state. A federal appeals court that upheld the ban in 2017 must issue a final order ...
