Crew marches on

Nov 05, 2018 - The Columbus Dispatch (Ohio)

When Crew SC opened Sunday's first game of the MLS Eastern Conference Semifinals, midfielder Federico Higuain was on the bench. After scoring both goals Thursday in the Crew's knockout round win against D.C. United, coach Gregg Berhalter had decided to give the 34-year-old a rest Sunday -- until the second half. Higuain came on strong, and fed Gyasi Zardes the ball to score the game's only goal, giving the Columbus Crew a 1-0 victory over the New York Red Bulls at Mapfre Stadium in Columbus.

The second match in the aggregate-goals system is Nov. 11 at Red Bull Arena in Harrison, N.J. See stories on Page ...
