In the middle of Prime Minister's Questions late last month, Boris Johnson appeared to make something of a halfannouncement. Within the next few weeks, he said he would bring forward measures to ensure the UK "protects our technological base".
MPs were "right to be concerned about investment" and right to be "concerned about the buying up of UK technology now by countries that may have ulterior motives", he said.
