Chat shows a symbol of TV's infantilisation, says Lipman
THE chat show has become a symbol of the "infantilisation" of modern television, according to Maureen Lipman, with celebrities required to do no more than volunteer risqué stories about sex and bodily functions.
The actress said the format had fallen so low since the days of Michael Parkinson that viewers now learned nothing about the guests "except that they are famous and good sports. End of."
