Brazil neighbours push others to join meeting on Amazon fires

PERU and Colombia yesterday called on fellow Amazonian countries to attend a presidential meeting next month on the forest fires raging in Brazil and Bolivia and to forge a pact to protect the forest.

The meeting is due to take place in the Amazonian region of Leticia in Colombia on 6 September, the two countries said after Peruvian President Martin Vizcarra met his Colombian counterpart Ivan Duque.
