A struggling New York musician returns to her Midwestern home after a romantic breakup in "Becks," the first fiction feature from co-directors Daniel Powell and Elizabeth Rohrbaugh. Inspired by the life of singer-songwriter Alyssa Robbins, the modest drama boasts a cast of strong actors, who manage to pull off moments of genuine engagement. But like its protagonist's fleeting relationships, the film never completely connects.
