Bagpipes and Bonfire a celebration of conservation
Lake Forest resident John Dick was field marshal Sunday for the annual Bagpipes and Bonfire in the North Shore village.
And though it was his first time, Dick understood the bonfire's community ritual. Before the torch-caring Morris family lit the 20-foot-high brush pile once again, he reminded 2,000 onlookers of why they gather every year in the Open Lands nature preserve and beneath tall oak trees.
