Arts groups see ticket tax filling needs

After several months of debate and tweaks to the proposal, the Columbus City Council voted 6-0 last week to adopt two 5 percent ticket taxes to fund the arts and improvements to Nationwide Arena.

Although a small group of opponents say they plan to gather signatures for a ballot referendum on the arts tax and to file a legal challenge against the arena tax, the ticket tax seems likely to go into effect on July 1.
