AGL reveals heavy metal contamination problem in power stations

AGL Energy has revealed a problem, with heavy metal levels detected in coal ash from its Hunter Valley power stations causing it to indefinitely suspend sales of the byproduct.

The issue has triggered calls for more stringent environmental controls on coal power generation.
