Bush O'Donnell Investment Advisors (BOIA) employs a disciplined, long-term investment approach that is based on the belief that buying and holding a concentrated portfolio of very high-quality growth stocks is best means to grow assets. The firm does not attempt to time the market. Clients remain fully invested at all times. While they disregard price momentum, BOIA may take advantage of occasional short-term market turmoil to add to existing positions. To better understand cash flows, BOIA analyzes a potential investment's underlying business fundamentals. They examine the quality and consistency of earnings, top-line growth, strength and depth of management, barriers to competition, use of financial leverage, global marketing efforts, product life cycles and other factors. The firm is willing to ride out periods of sub-par performance if they are convinced that the company's future prospects are brighter. They will sell a position if the company shows no signs of returning to target earnings levels within a reasonable time. BOIA only invests in US companies. For their core growth strategy, the firm seeks very large companies that consistently grow earnings. BOIA invests companies they can fully understand.BOIA's large-cap growth seeks to maximize the after-tax returns while achieving portfolio growth in excess of the S&P 500. The firm seeks companies that have doubled the 5-year historical earnings growth rate of the S&P 500 Index and have a forward p/e ration roughly equal to the S&P. They emphasize the sectors they believe will perform well and are appropriate for their clients. Special attention is paid to clients who have specific social investing guidelines.

Managing Director at Fairfield Bush & Co.
Fairfield Bush & Co. (FBC) seeks to preserve and enhance the purchasing power of client capital over stock market cycles. Their goal is to protect capital during negative markets and increase capital in real terms and after taxes during favorable markets. While the firm doesn't employ stock market timing strategies, they do use dollar-cost-averaging when initiating new stock positions. FBC uses a sell discipline that is based on excess market valuation in relation to a company's sales, in order to reduce the price risk in stocks having gains. FBC focuses on identifying significant companies that are creating and developing long-term growth markets for their products and services. The firm offers domestic and international common stock portfolios, balanced investment programs and active fixed income management programs. Common stock portfolios are generally diversified in 35-45 companies with no industry sector accounting for more than 20% of invested capital. The majority of fixed income portfolios utilize only investment grade securities including US Government and agencies, tax exempt municipal bonds, corporate debt securities, foreign debt securities and sovereign debt securities.

The United States presidential election of 1988 was the 51st quadrennial presidential election. It was held on Tuesday, November 8, 1988. Incumbent Vice President George H. W. Bush won the Republican nomination, and chose Senator Dan Quayle of Indiana as his running mate. The Democrats nominated Governor Michael Dukakis of Massachusetts, with Senator Lloyd Bentsen of Texas as his running mate. Bush capitalized on a good economy, a stable international stage, and on President Ronald Reagan's popularity, running an aggressive campaign. Meanwhile, Dukakis' campaign suffered from several miscues, including failure to defend against Bush's attacks. This allowed Bush to win with a substantial margin of the popular vote, while winning the Electoral College by a landslide. Since the 1988 election, no candidate has managed to equal or surpass Bush's number of electoral votes won or popular vote percentage. This election marked the third consecutive presidential victory for the Republican Party, and the first time that the same party had won more than two consecutive presidential elections since the Democrats won all five elections from 1932 to 1948.
