Paula Wells might not have been the first woman to take engineering classes at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, but she was the first to graduate.
That was in 1957.
"I was very accepted by the faculty. There were no problems," Wells said, adding that her fellow students all were with her, too.
Many of her classmates were Korean War veterans. "They were mature about me being in their classes," she said. "I never had a bad experience in school."
