'Use plain food packaging to cut obesity'

Fatty foods should be sold in plain packaging to help the battle against obesity, a neuroscientist has said.

Wolfram Shultz, who was yesterday revealed as joint winner of a (EURO)1 million (£860,000) prize for a lifetime's work understanding the brain's decisionmaking process, said colourful wrapping and attractive advertising of calorie-rich foods triggered chemicals that encouraged people to overeat.
