(CNN) -- The United States conducted 20 airstrikes against al Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula in Yemen overnight, according to two US officials.
US manned and unmanned aircraft struck multiple locations, including targets in the Abyan, Shabwa and Baydha regions.
The officials added that the military assesses that al Qaeda personnel were killed.
The strikes are the first ones to target the Yemen-based terror group since the deadly January raid in Baydha that left Chief Petty O
