Unpack a tree to stop new diseases

RISING levels of tree disease are being addressed by the Woodland Trust, which is issuing tree packs to encourage the planting of trees to replace those being lost.

Sweet chestnut blight and acute oak decline are of particular concern, as new cases are being recorded across counties. Sweet chestnut blight was first found in Kent in 2011, where it was dealt with effectively, but new cases have been recorded in Devon.
