Track repairs to curtail streetcar

Two concrete slabs that support the streetcar tracks are crumbling, a defect that was discovered during a routine inspection.

The bad slabs at Court and Walnut streets post no immediate danger, but "it's not something we can ignore," a city spokesman said.

The question now is how to fix it with the lowest possible impact on the system. The streetcar itself will have to be shut down; vehicle traffic will also be affected.
