Remember “Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader?”

It used to be one of my favorite TV quiz shows. The degree of difficulty of many of the questions — and the range of topics they covered, from history to literature to math — was taxing enough to make me feel a slight sense of satisfaction whenever I outsmarted the show’s contestants.

in the way adult losers on the show had to face the camera and utter the phrase, “I am not smarter than a fif
