The U.S. set a record for quarterly utility-scale solar installations during the fourth quarter of 2016, with 3,592 MW of capacity brought online. This brought the total installations for the year to 7,234 MW. There are an additional 17,503 MW in various stages of development across the U.S.
California led the U.S. in installed capacity during the quarter, with 934 MW of capacity added. Georgia followed, with a total of 382 MW coming online, and Arizona was next at 335 MW.
