Record low yields are set to climb

Record low yields on residential property, especially in Sydney, could soon start rising again if their historical correlation to interest rates holds up.

Rising property prices and soft weekly rents have pushed residential property yields down across Australia's combined capital cities to a record low of 3.2 per cent, from 4.2 per cent five years ago.

Sydney has shown the most significant compression in rental yields over the past five years, now at 2.9 per cent.
