It’s vitally important that Rhode Island’s new attorney general, Peter Neronha, protect and defend the public’s right to know about its government. His predecessor, Peter Kilmatin, had a dismal record in that area.
So it was a little unnerving to see one of Mr. Neronha’s first acts was to argue before a court that a huge amount of state documents may legally be kept secret from the public.
