Millions to feel the heat as British Gas hikes take effect

TOMORROW is set to be the most expensive day so far this year for millions of energy customers as British Gas price hikes come into effect.

More than 3m British Gas customers on standard variable tariffs will be hit by a 12.5 per cent rise to their electricity prices, costing households an extra £235m per year, comparison group Moneysupermarket said. The hike was the Centrica-owned firm's first in nearly four years.
