IRS; Time running out to claim '13 refund

Time is running out for 36,000 Ohioans who have not filed a 2013 federal income-tax return to collect a refund.

Failing to file means that any refund owed to them will instead stay with the U.S. Treasury.

To collect, taxpayers must file their return with the Internal Revenue Service by April 18, which is also the deadline for filing 2016 tax returns.

The IRS says more than $1 billion is owed to an estimated 1 million U.S. taxpayers; the median of those refunds is $763. In Ohio,
