Hydro-Québec wins approval for 0.7% rate hike

The Régie de l'énergie, Quebec's energy regulator, has approved Hydro-Québec's request for a rate hike, authorizing the provincial government-owned company a 0.7% rate increase, effective April 1.

The rate hike, equivalent to 1% below the inflation rate for the 2017 and 2018 period, will increase monthly bills for customers that have a small or mid-sized house by about 88 Canadian cents and C$1.75, respectively, according to a March 1 news release.
