Contractors to pay $420G to settle MBTA invoice-inflation charges

Two contracting firms will pay nearly a half-million dollars to settle allegations of inflating invoices to the state to build the new Assembly MBTA station in Somerville.

S&R Construction Enterprises, based in New Hampshire, and A&S Electrical LLC, a subcontractor based in Massachusetts, will pay a combined $420,000 to settle the overbilling charges, including $110,000 in penalties.
