Construction dominates strikes spike

The number of industrial disputes rose to their highest level in 11 years in 2016, and the construction industry accounted for almost half of working days lost from the disputes.

The 259 industrial disputes last year were the most since 2005 and resulted in the loss of 124,500 working days, almost a 50 per cent jump from 2015 when it was 83,400.
